Walkin' In a Winter Wonder-Land

And what am I wondering?  When this winter will quit!

Nine more inches of snow fell yesterday, on top of ice and freezing rain.  Schools are closed again, of course.  These are the feeders I rehung yesterday.

I won't be shovelling out the back gate. Spring can do that job.  There is a huge drift on the other side.

The mailboxes on the road are buried and knocked askew by the force of the snow as the plow comes around the curve.

Before the latest deluge I measured the snow on the flat and came up with an average of 18 inches.  18" + 9" yesterday = 26".  Where the snow has drifted it is much deeper than that.

So what's it doing in your neck of the woods today? Are you snowshoeing, paddling in floods and rain, basking in the sun?  Do tell!

  1. We have a very early spring, six weeks to early. High temperatures, 10C , flowers started to blossom and buts on the trees. It changes from rain to sunshine all the time. We didn't had winter at all this year.

  3. The crocuses and daffodils are already in bloom in the garden. We have had no frost let alone snow this winter just rain, rain and more rain. I was so lucky to be away for the worst of it.

  4. Oh my! The snow! This morning was humid and warm, then that line of storms came through NC. High winds blew a tree down on some power lines and knocked power out for a few hours. Lots of rain. Late afternoon the sun came out. Hope your snow melts soon. It surely is pretty though.

  5. We have 16 inches of snow cover so you have more than us! It turned real cold today and very windy, I suppose that was the back side of your storm. We got just a skiff of new snow. This has been a hell winter and it ain't over yet:(

  6. I wish I was out in the woods on my snowshoes. Had to go to work. Had to shovel snow. Had to rake the roof. Have a sick teen . . . One of these days I want to get to see that samovar you wrote about.

  8. That is an awful lot of snow, you poor thing. How do you get out the door? We are basking in sun.

  9. Funny you should ask! The front door is totally drifted shut, up one step and over the doorknob. It will stay that way until spring. Keeps away those annoying people knocking in the door to sell discount coupons to places I don't go!
The garage door is how I let in my guests. Sort of tacky, I know!
