Sunday by the Sea

By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea . . .

at Whitstable, an old fishing village on the English Channel.

Oysters are harvested here, so of course one must eat oysters!

And here's proof that I did!

I spent the last two wonderful days with Marie, fellow blogger and now dear friend, being shown around London's lesser known sites and the Kent countryside. (Marie is the one in the photo wearing the chips 'round her head, not the one in the yellow oilskins.)

We had a fine bimble on the coast path, then up to a castle and round a garden. It was a brilliant day and I'm chuffed as can be (and also knackered).

Cheerio, mates!

  1. Cynthia, I am glad you have had a great time. The sea I love it but I live 600 km from the Baltic Sea. You are a brave girl, really. I am proud of you. Love from Poland.

  2. I used to live in Kent as well. There are some stunning places there but I'm sure "The one with chips round her head" is going to point them out to you lol

  4. Dearest Knackered
I'm rather pleased to note (ie chuffed) that a retired teacher from Minnesota uses such a phase as it has been one of my lifelong favourites that sometimes raises eyebrows! How lovely to see you having a blast in my old neck of the woods, well I'm not exactly a Kent girl more an Oxon lass... but I do know a nice British summer day when I see one! Nice to meet Marie too, looking very fetching in her gorgeous chip bonnet :)
Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  6. Looks like an oyster paradise - how I can dispose of fresh sea oysters - a regular
    swallowing machine!!!
Prices a bit on the steep side, but on reflection the same as here!!!
"One" (love that Pommy phrase/word when speaking) would love to
see more sand and less pebbles on that "Beach".
Seaside it is, beach it ain't!
Great to see/read no inclement weather, "Hughie" must find you
to be the flavour of the holiday season!!!
Great posts - keep them coming.
    Cheers
    Aussie "Col".

  8. Those oysters are huge. It must have been fun meeting Marie, one of my blogger friends too. Knackered from enjoying yourself is a good way to be.

  11. Ewww, can't east oysters. The men in my family all love them, but the girls not so much. I guess we just didn't grow up with them. Sure glad you enjoy them, and I'll bet they are best fresh.
