Spider lilies, on the edge of old rice fields in Georgetown, SC

Where did they come from?
How did they get there?
How long ago?

  3. They are beautiful! The center almost looks like a morning glory. Birds sometimes transport seeds here and there.

  6. Good luck trying to find the answer to those questions. I thought they looked like morning glory at first until I saw the yellow stamens (?) extending beyond the petals. An interesting and unusual flower.

  9. Very different and lovely as most spider lilies are.
They could have come from China and some of those places over that way..
