Instead, they produce a sticky spore mass with a carrion or dung odor, which attracts flies, which land on the spore mass, which then attaches to their legs, carrying it elsewhere.<br />These mushrooms are theoretically edible in their immature "egg" state, but few people dare to eat them because of their unpleasant odor.
