DECEMBER 9 - ‘New Knee Day’ First Anniversary

A year ago today I got a new knee. I was promised “pain relief, increased mobility, and better quality of life,” and I can say, I think I got all that.
I was also told that maintenance is a lifelong commitment. You know — use it or lose it!

I’ve taken that advice pretty seriously.  We walk twice a day. I do yoga most every day and
several times a week we hike or bike a good distance. My knee does just fine.
The mechanical part still clicks annoyingly at times.  Sometimes a burning pain keeps me awake at night.  But all in all, I’m very happy with the outcome and hope it lasts the rest of my life!

  1. I'm glad to hear that the knee works pretty well for the most part. As for all the healthy things you are doing, I have decided to be inspired. I was a bit ashamed for not doing very much. Use it or lose it, this is very true, I'm finding out.

  11. I just had my right knee replaced 3 months ago and getting left done the end of January. I didn’t realize how much pain I was in until after my surgery. I am so happy to have half my life back and looking to get the rest back after next surgery and recovery! First was the most painful, prior but left is most deformed and now I have a 1.5 inch difference in left length. Can’t imagine how I will feel when I might be normal. I should not have waited 20 years for the surgery but life got in the way....now it is time for me to take care of me.....rehab was scary since no family to help but I had house set up and was really prepared. Praying for a good post op course with this next one..... the look out world......getting a life back at 66!
