A Peep at Spring

Baby Mason and I headed for the feed store first thing this morning, a little because I knew they would have something he would like to see, and a lot because we both needed to get out of the house.  Winter has made an unwelcome comeback with cold and snow, so no more fun in the garden for awhile.

Mason liked the chicks for awhile and then we shopped a few things for the garden, just in case winter goes away again.

On the way home we saw a bald eagle in a field being harrassed by crows.  Well, I saw an eagle.  Mason had fallen asleep by then.

Someone shared this with me so I thought I would pass it along for a smile.  I think Cicero is right, although a little sunshine would be nice, too!

Thanks for reading my blog today.  I enjoy reading your comments!

  1. Hope the weather cheers up for you soon so Mason can enjoy being in the garden again.

  2. Sounds like a nice reason to get out of the house. Cicero apparently didn't knit. ;-) I would need yarn, but I agree with the library, the garden, and the sunshine, too.

    1. Oh, wait! I need yarn, too. Or maybe a sheep in the garden would do.

  3. Nice varied activities. I'm assuming that Mason is a child? Yes, sunshine would be nice. Right now it is snowing in St. Paul, MN. Enough already!!

  5. Cicero was right along with a little yarn maybe? I miss going to the feed store. I loved it especially during any holiday they always had something unique and items I liked. I have to try and find some seed potatoes around here as Good Friday is planting day for them! Love your garden "stuff".

  6. Sounds like a fun time for Mason! What's cottonseed meal for?

    1. I got it for the tomatoes but I don't think it's organic so I'm going to take it back.

    2. It says "organic nitrogen" but it doesn't say organic cottonseed meal when you read the fine print. Cotton is grown with a lot of chemicals and they get concentrated in the seeds. Pooh.

  7. Hi Cynthia! Thanks for visiting Catbird Scout. I'm happy to find you here. It looks like we have a ton in common. I'm not quite retired from teaching (a couple more years), but like reading the adventures of someone on the path ahead of me.

  8. I love it when the baby chick and duck come into a local store...I can be found gawking for quite some time. Perhaps you got some white stuff...you know the S word..it missed us!! But boy is it chilly:(

  9. Seems like winter is having it's last say. Hope it goes away quickly.
    Happy Easter.

  10. I hear there is still some snow in the upper areas of the US, here it is quite sunny. Little chicks are so cute – I wish they would stay little for a long time. Baby Mason must have loved looking at them, and maybe wished to handle them. That Cicero quote is in my quotation document because it rings so true.

  11. Sings of spring with you, signs of autumn with me. Cool evenings, wood fires.

My possum is a different species to the one you saw flat on the road - same same, different animal.

  12. WE are lucky and have perfect wether now. Sunny but not too hot. I like Cicero's quote but a little rain would be good for the garden too.
